A Not-so-Sweet Thing About Eating Sweets at Bedtime

Many people still eat sweets or sugar-laced foods late in the evening or before going to bed.

Unfortunately, this can affect the body's resting or sleeping cycle, and may even prevent a person from falling to the deeper levels of sleep.

Sleep is not only measured by the number of hours you spend sleeping, but also by the quality of your sleep.

People who can sleep for at least 7.5 to 9 hours, and reach deep sleep or REM sleep, may feel more energetic and alert during their waking hours.

Another factor that can disrupt your sleeping cycle is noise.  Earmuffs are handy, but these cannot provide uniform and effective noise masking.  Try white noise machines.

These noise cancellation systems can help you achieve a more peaceful environment, conducive for sleep without much hassle.  You simple turn one on.

Observe what you eat before bedtime, and use a white noise machine to combat noise.  You'll be amazed at how easily your sleeping pattern improves, and with it your health.

The Quest for Quality Sleep

It's not just about the number of hours you spend sleeping, but the quality of your sleep that affects your health.  If you feel sluggish at work, and do not perform at your optimum levels, chances are high you've been missing quality sleep.

The average adult needs at least 7 hours of quality sleep per day.  By "quality sleep," it means deep, relaxing sleep at its various levels.

Your body will not tolerate abuse; if you have been depriving it of quality sleep, symptoms of failing health will soon manifest in your work, and maybe in your relationships.

And if noise is the culprit...
